About Elan Academy

"The Learn-To-Ride Program aligns with Elan Academy’s mission: we strive to grow student confidence in all areas of life through high-quality instruction and opportunities to participate in a variety of enrichment activities. However, we do not have the funds to purchase the materials and teaching course required to instruct our youngest students how to ride a bike. As a Title 1 School with a high concentration of students from low-income families, most of our students do not have the means necessary to learn how to ride a bike outside of school.

The Learn-To-Ride Program would provide Elan Academy with the tools to teach its students, who live in an urban area, how to ride a balance bike in a safe and structured environment. In addition, a major tenet of Elan Academy’s education model is preparing its students for future success. Learning how to ride bikes in kindergarten will provide a foundation for students to build their biking skills, and pave the way for them to use biking as a healthy, cost-effective method of transportation to places like school, work, or the library in the future." - Head of School, Melanie A

Elan Academy is seeking support for a complete Kindergarten PE Program, including a fleet of 28 Strider AKB-Specific Bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, one Strider 20 Bike for teacher instruction, and curriculum.
