About Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts

"PHSSA, "where tiny acorns grow into mighty oaks," is a public charter school located in the city of Richmond, VA. Enrollment is open to any elementary school-aged child in the city. We strive to educate the whole child and focus on bringing together children from all backgrounds. Our integrated learning approach promotes a nature-based curriculum infused with arts. Our programming elevates the outdoors -- from our learning outdoors focus and outdoor classroom, to our weekly excursions to our neighboring park and environmental education resource class that every student has, to our innovative PE offerings in outdoor adventure activities such as climbing, slackline, zipline, kayaking, orienteering/geocaching, overnight camping and Chesapeake Bay Foundation excursions. Getting our littlest acorns out safely on bicycles aligns perfectly with our mission and vision.

We are fortunate beyond measure to sit adjacent to Forest Hill Park, the city's largest public park, and the James River Park System - providing our students with awesome outdoor opportunities, including great bike trails. Additionally, Richmond is continually improving the bicycle infrastructure throughout the city and fostering a "bicycling culture" as detailed in the Richmond Bicycle Master Plan." Board of Directors, Vice Chair, Ann-Alyssa H.

Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts is seeking support for a complete Kindergarten PE Program, including a fleet of 24 Strider AKB-Specific Bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, one Strider 20-inch Bike for teacher instruction, and curriculum.
