"Black Hawk Elementary School was the first elementary school in the Rapid City Area School district to participate in the Kindergarten Strider Bike initiative. Black Hawk piloted this program, and I helped create the content in the initial curriculum. For over a decade our students have been riding bikes in the gym, hallways, and outside. 

It is by far our Kindergarten student's favorite unit. We receive the most positive feedback from parents when our kids are learning to ride bikes. This is such an important opportunity for our kids as many of them do not own a bike. For some kids it is their first time riding a bike. There is no better feeling than seeing a student start pedaling a bike unassisted for the first time. They are beaming with pride! Thank you Strider for supporting this program. 

Our fleet of well used bikes are starting to age, and we would like to upgrade out bikes so this program can continue for our students into the future!" Tari Phares, PE Teacher
