About George Washington Elementary

"The Learn-to-Ride Kindergarten program will impact our school by providing our students with a chance to improve their physical and mental well-being through bike riding. George Washington is located in Pigtown, a community here in Baltimore. All our kids qualify for free lunch and 22 of our 133 students are of homeless status. 

Few students have access to bikes, let alone lessons on how to ride. The access to bikes will give our students an opportunity to try something new and learn a skill. New skills are a great way to improve their confidence and sense of independence in school and beyond. This initiative will help achieve our school mission to prepare, create, and lead a deeply rich and powerful learning experience for our students." School Community Coordinator, Latoria J. 

George Washington Elementary School is seeking support for a complete Kindergarten PE Program, including a fleet of 20 Strider AKB-Specific bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, 1 Strider 20-inch bike for teacher instruction, 2 steel rolling storage racks, and curriculum.
