About Mount Ida Schools

"Bobby Barrett Elementary school in Mount Ida, Arkansas will use this grant to teach children about bake safety and pursing healthy lifestyles. As part of our elementary campus healthy and wellness plans, we are actively searching for programs that increase the importance of daily exercising, as well as, provide opportunities for children to experience balancing and riding a bike. We believe that learning to balance is a prerequisite skills for other physical activities and will promote balancing on four-wheels and then two- wheels.

We are an high population economy disadvantage (school-wide) district and opportunities for children experiencing bikes is very limited. Many of our students ride the bus or walk to school on a daily basis. Although our elementary school is a centrally located school, currently we have no children that ride a bike to school." Superintendent, Ann G.

Mount Ida Schools are seeking support for a complete Kindergarten PE Program, including a fleet of 24 Strider AKB-Specific bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, 1 Strider 20-inch bike for teacher instruction, 2 steel rolling storage racks, and curriculum.
