About Ridge Meadows Elementary
Riding a bike is a lifetime activity that can be done practically anywhere. Remember those early tween years, jumping on your bike and feeling ultimate freedom? Unfortunately, kids are not learning to ride bikes as they have in the past-at Ridge Meadows Elementary, the PE teachers are wanting to change that!
Ridge Meadows is a small elementary school within a large suburban district in St. Louis. We are nestled between subdivisions and have several bike paths and parks in our surrounding areas. We are about 30 minutes from the Katy Trail, the longest continuous recreational rail trail in the country.
The PE teachers at Ridge Meadows want to give our youngest kids (Kindergarten and First Graders) the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike through the All Kids Bike Program. This program provides balance bikes, helmets, and pedal conversion kits for our students; With a little patience, practice, and confidence, we know that our students will then learn the lifelong skill of riding a bike. If awarded this grant, students years to come will learn to ride a bike and hopefully continue to ride bikes throughout their entire lifetime.
Ridge Meadows Elementary School is seeking support for a complete Kindergarten PE Program, including a fleet of 24 Strider AKB-Specific Bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, one Strider 20-inch bike for teacher instruction, 2 steel rolling storage racks, and curriculum.
